Re: Hep C Geno Strains
June 3, 2003

Hi

I live in Australia and was given a book by Don Colbert with your web site address in it.  It has been very informative.  While I have only read a few messages on your board, no-one mentions the geno types.  It has been my experience here in Australia that is how we clarify the degree of recovery. I hava tried interferon combination treatmenet although it severely attack me instead of the virus so they had to take me off it.

Apparently geno type 1b which I have I have been told is the most agressive.  My liver has entered into cirrohis sometime in the last 6 months with my liver too stressed to have anymore biopsies at the moment. While my ALTs are 200 and rising, my platlets are dropping to 80's. I notice that you talk about ALT's in millions, so perhaps we have a different system here.

What are results are you aware of with geno type 1b?

Thanks your site is informative and I shall look for your book here.  Not that I don't want to use your service but the dollar makes it twice the price plus postage.

MAy God bless you all
G.

Hi G:

Interferon's do not work, especially on 1b.

They are not the most aggressive, 1a and 1b are just not received well with interferon's.

IU/ml is the measurement the US uses for viral load also copies.
Copies are higher.

I would read my books and do what I did because people who do have the best results.  We ship to Australia all the time.  It is a bit expensive but well worth it.

You should have a Ferritin test.  This test measures the amount of iron in the liver.   If it is high and it is in 25% of males and 8 % of females, it will all by itself drive up the AST and ALT and the viral load.

A few phlebotomies will lower it and the numbers.

You do not need biopsies, a ultra sound and a blood test is non invasive and can give one the same results.

I will attach what I did.

I am here for questions.

In good health
Lloyd
